You've got questions, we've got answers.
Where is Burundi and why does it matter?
Burundi sits in the heart of East Africa, bordered by Rwanda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It's one of the world's smallest countries — and one of its most underrated coffee origins. High altitude, volcanic soil, Bourbon variety trees that have been growing there for generations. The conditions are exceptional. The coffee proves it.
What does Dusangirijambo mean?
In Kirundi, Burundi's national language, it translates to "let's bring our ideas together." Founded in 2007 with 1,300 members, the cooperative now has 3,000 farmers — over 1,000 of them women — working collectively to produce better coffee, earn better prices and build better lives. Buying this coffee means that system keeps working.
How is it processed?
Fully washed. Cherries are depulped, fermented in tanks for 12–24 hours, then dried on raised beds for two to three weeks. Every daily lot is dried to a precise moisture content and assessed through cupping before it's approved. Nothing sloppy. Nothing rushed. The shortbread and orange toffee in your cup doesn't happen by accident.
Will it be too light or too acidic?
No. This is washed Bourbon — which means clean, structured and sweet rather than sharp or sour. The orange toffee note brings a gentle brightness but it's balanced by the richness of milk chocolate and the biscuity warmth of shortbread underneath. Approachable for everyday drinking, interesting enough to keep you coming back.
