ROASTERS NOTES:

Sulawesi. The one that surprises you.

From Panaikang Village in the Gowa Regency of South Sulawesi — 1,250 metres above sea level, volcanic soil, tropical climate. This is Yolan Tirta's mill, and it produces coffee that doesn't behave like you'd expect from Indonesia.

In the cup: cooked pear and milk chocolate, with mild dried orange and pecan. Good sweetness, mellow acidity and a creamy, balanced body that lingers.

Clean. Elegant. Quietly impressive.

You've got questions, we've got answers.

Isn't Indonesian coffee earthy and heavy?

Usually, yes — but not this one. Most Indonesian coffee is wet-hulled, which produces that deep, earthy, low-acid profile you're probably thinking of. Yolan Tirta's coffee is fully washed — depulped, fermented and dried cleanly. The result is more fruit-forward, more acidic and considerably more refined than a typical Indonesian lot. It's the unexpected one from the region.

Who is Yolan Tirta?

A third-generation coffee producer who set up his mill in Panaikang Village in 2016 with a clear goal — elevate the quality of South Sulawesi coffee. He introduced proper washing stations, greenhouse drying to counter the region's humidity, and zero chemical fertilisers. The coffee grows alongside conservation forests that are home to monkeys, birds and civets. He's also established mini mills and drying stations for neighbouring farmers — the kind of person whose work makes the whole region better, not just his own farm.

Roasted fresh, shipped fast.

We roast five days a week and dispatch daily before 1pm. Every bag leaves with a roast date stamped on it — because coffee this carefully produced deserves to be drunk fresh.

No grinder? No worries.

Select your brew method at checkout and we'll grind to suit on our commercial grinder. Espresso, filter, plunger — just let us know.
